Our Story
The idea for House of Manus began to take shape in 2022. While searching for secondhand clothing, I kept coming across vintage household textiles—beautiful, handmade curtains and tablecloths, full of history and care—that were being overlooked and thrown away. It felt like such a waste of craftsmanship and soul.
After selling my previous fashion business in Amsterdam in 2023, I moved to Barcelona. That move marked the beginning of a new chapter. After more than a decade in the fast-paced fashion industry, I had seen firsthand how damaging it can be to our planet. I knew that whatever I did next had to be different—and had to make a positive impact.
Barcelona turned out to be the perfect place to start over. The city is rich in antique textiles and home to skilled artisans who share my values. I allowed myself time—two full years of sampling and slow development—to step away from the mass-production mindset and rethink what a more meaningful fashion brand could look like.
In the summer of 2025, I launched the first House of Manus collection: scrunchies and scarves crafted from antique Spanish curtains, designed to bring bold character to everyday outfits. My mission is simple: to create timeless accessories that give new life to forgotten materials. I believe in wardrobes built on quality basics, elevated with unique, upcycled pieces.
House of Manus is not just about selling products—it’s about telling a story. A story that invites you to pause, reconsider, and make more conscious choices as a consumer.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Much love,
Sophie
